Popular Scents for Wedding and Party Favors
What is a wedding or a party without candles? Or scent for that matter? Candles for weddings and parties can contain a variety of different scents, depending on the atmosphere that you are trying to create. However, these are some of the most popular scents that are great to create a romantic theme for your wedding; I only use pure essential oils in wedding and party candles, as fragrance oils do not possess the same therapeutic properties:
- ylang ylang (Cananga odorata)
- sweet orange (Citrus sinensis)
- rose (Rosa damascena)
- lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
- cypress (Cupressus sempervirens)
- patchouli (Pogostemon cablin)
- neroli (Citrus aurantium var. amara).
The above list is just an inspiration list for you, as the combination of these and various and other essential oils can create no end of aromatherapy blends for your wedding or party! It takes practice, and knowledge, to appreciate the subtle differences between scents.
Creating an Aromatherapy Candle Favor
Once you get into candle making, you will discover that there are all sorts of candle shapes that you can create! In addition, you can use a variety of different types of candle waxes. To create these simple aromatherapy heart candle favors, we used soy wax. These particular aromatherapy candles are also floating candles so you can use a few of them in a decorative bowl of water as a centerpiece for your party table. If you want some more ideas on how to do this for your wedding, please contact me!
First, we set up a series of candle making trays and prepare the candle wicks…
Then after we have prepared our ingredients and heated it up on the stove, we add in our essential oil blend before pouring the hot wax into the molds….
You will see that the wax begins to change as it cools down…
Once the wax is hardened, we can take the candles out of the molds…
…and then cut the candle wicks down to size…
It takes a bit of practice to perfect the process! We finish up our heart aromatherapy candles for wedding and party favors by packaging them in an organza bag…
Of course, it is a little bit more complicated than this post shows, but this gives you an idea of how we create our aromatherapy candle favors – and what you could do to make your own! For brides, there are a number of additional options that we can add to custom make your wedding or party favor.
