Last week’s post on How to Make a Simple Aromatherapy Perfume Spritzer generated quite a bit of interest so, following on January’s theme for Aroma Brides, today’s post focuses on essential oil favors for weddings, using massage oils.  In case you missed it, last Friday’s “A Day in the Life of…” post featured aromatherapy candle favors.

Aromatherapy Oils for Wedding Favors

Essential oil blends using massage oils is perhaps one of the first ways that you learn to use essential oils in aromatherapy practice – particularly if you are a massage therapist.  There are all sorts of vegetable oils and essential oils that you can use to create massage oils, depending on your focus, but here are some of the oils that I use to create aromatherapy wedding favors at Sedona Aromatherapie.

Vegetable oils for wedding favors need to be light and simple.  Remember, you can’t control who is going to use the wedding favor blend, so it is best to stick with vegetable oils that are not known to have any contra-indicators (in general).  The same goes for essential oils – although I always discuss with a bride what scent she is favoring before suggesting a particular oil and why.

Examples of vegetable oils for wedding favors include:

• sunflower
• apricot kernel
• sweet almond.

Examples of essential oils for wedding favors include:

• sweet orange (Citrus sinensis)
• rose (Rosa damascena)
• lavender (Lavandula angustifolia)
• cypress (Cupressus sempervirens)
• patchouli (Pogostemon cablin)
• neroli (Citrus aurantium var. amara).

I simply combine the chosen vegetable oil with the chosen essential oils (quantities of each oil vary); here’s some photos to show you how I process aromatherapy wedding favors:
